The Examinations handled by the Commission include:

1. SELECTION EXAMINATION:

2. General Placement Test (GPT); formerly Common Entrance Examination. This is a Screening Test which qualifies candidates for admission into the Upper Basic Class one (JSS1)

3. Entrance Examination into the Senior Science Schools

 

The three (3) major units under Executive Secretary’s Office enshrined in the edict establishing Secondary Education Management Board are:

1. CERTIFICATE EXAMINATIONS:

2. Primary School Leaving Assessment Test (PSLAT) formerly, First School Leaving Certificate Examination (FSLC) which qualifies learners to earn the first academic Certificate in life.

3. Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) formerly, Junior School Leaving Certificate Examination that marks the end of the Upper Basic Programme.

PROMOTION EXAMINATION FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

(i) Mandatory Central Promotion Examinations (MCPE) for JSS1 &2, SS1 &2, Pr 1 to 5 to promote Competitiveness amongst Students.

1. Entrance Examination into State Science Schools, which is a screening Exam for intending Science School Students.

1. Confirmation of results.

2. To appraise and accredit exam facilities to ascertain the suitability of the Examination Centres in line with the Federal Ministry of Education directives.
